Gabi’s position at Redox CrossFit is a marriage between two of her favorite things: people and CrossFit. She is an Iowa transplant, calling Alaska home for the last three years. A former collegiate basketball player, she considered herself reasonably athletic and fit; notions CrossFit would challenge on their first meeting. It had been two years since her playing days had ended, and she was missing a competitive outlet. She would go through the motions at the local rec center, not really push herself, and avoid anything she didn’t want to do. One day she decided to check out the affiliate she walked past on her daily commute in Chicago. In 2013, at a small (but fantastic) gym called CrossFit Sono, she walked in for her first class, almost passed out during the warm-up, and has been hooked ever since. Gabi’s event planning experience includes numerous events such as Children’s Miracle Network Dance Marathon, the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Muckfest MS, the Susan G. Komen 3-Day, and Warrior Dash. Her mom describes her as “the Cruise Ship Director”, so it only makes sense for her to bring her passion for bringing people together for a great cause to Redox as the Director of Community Development.
